Dear Friend,
Thanks for dropping by! We’re so glad to have you here. Putting this issue together (our first issue!) was a true joy. Every week, the five of us in this little team of editors would get together and discuss the wonderful submissions we had received. Collectively, we span a tumultuous medley of eclectic literary tastes. Taking this into consideration, it is no wonder that our meetings would stretch across multiple hours as we carefully selected pieces to include in this issue. If you’d like to know more about what we like, here are our favorite poems:
Monet Refuses the Operation by Lisa Mueller
Incident on a Journey by Thom Gunn
Goblin Market by Christina Rosetti
Red Faces by Gertrude Stein
Paradox by Tara Skurtu
Similarly to each of these poems, the works featured in The Red Lemon Review seek to alienate us from our everyday experiences. Through the examination of the commonplace, the writers and artists featured in this debut issue refuse to let any stone go unturned, unnoticed, or unappreciated.
With Love,
The Red Lemon Team
